Strip HTML Tags
Remove all HTML tags from text while keeping the visible content, with an option to decode entities.
About Strip HTML Tags
HTML is everywhere, whether it is copied web pages, exported email, or CMS editor output, but plain-text contexts like tickets, text messages, and word documents cannot render it. What you get is a wall of angle brackets that makes the content impossible to read.
The tool removes every tag while keeping the visible text intact. Non-visible content like script and style blocks is dropped entirely, and an option decodes entities such as & back into their characters, so an ampersand reads naturally instead of showing as code.
Content managers extracting text from pasted pages, developers pulling text out of scraped HTML, and marketers cleaning email content all use it. It also prepares text for analysis tools that choke on markup.
How to Use
- Paste HTML containing the tags you want to remove.
- Press Strip HTML.
- Copy the plain text that remains.
Example
<p>Hello <strong>world</strong>!</p> Hello world!
The p and strong tags are removed, leaving only the visible text. Entity decoding turns things like & back into &.
FAQ
Does it remove script and style content?
Yes. Script, style, and other non-visible content is removed entirely so only user-visible text remains.
What about HTML entities like ?
An option to decode entities converts them back to their characters, or you can leave them encoded.
Why would I strip HTML tags?
Extracting readable text from copied web content, cleaning up emails, or preparing content for plain-text contexts like text messages.
Are nested tags handled correctly?
Yes. The parser removes each tag independently regardless of nesting, so a div containing a span and a paragraph loses all three while the text between them survives intact.
What happens to attributes like href and src?
Attributes are removed along with their tags. If you need the links themselves, copy them from the HTML source before stripping, since only the visible text remains after the cleanup.
