Strong Password Generator
Generate cryptographically strong random passwords with full control over length and character types.
About Strong Password Generator
Reusing passwords across sites is one of the most common ways accounts get compromised, and coming up with a genuinely random string by hand is harder than it looks. This tool removes that guesswork by producing passwords that don't follow the patterns people tend to fall into, so there's nothing for a guessing attack to latch onto.
Everything runs locally through the browser's Web Crypto API, meaning characters are drawn from a cryptographically secure source rather than a predictable algorithm. You control the length and the character sets in play — uppercase, lowercase, digits, and symbols — and can exclude look-alike characters for passwords you'll read aloud. A strength meter scores each result based on length and character variety.
It's a fit for anyone setting up accounts with high-value access, like email, banking, or cloud dashboards. Developers use it to seed test credentials and CI secrets, IT admins hand it to users during onboarding, and security-minded individuals pair the output with a password manager for long-term storage.
How to Use
- Set the password length and which character types to include.
- Press Generate Password.
- Copy the password, which never leaves your device.
Example
Length 16, all character types e.g. 7K#p9!sR2@mQ4&xT
Mixing upper and lowercase, digits, and symbols across 16 characters creates a password with very high entropy.
FAQ
Is the generator secure?
Yes. It uses the browser's Web Crypto API, which produces cryptographically secure random values — not predictable pseudo-random ones.
How long should a password be?
At least 12 characters, with 16+ recommended. Length matters more than complexity for resisting brute-force attacks.
Does it avoid ambiguous characters?
Yes, an option excludes look-alike characters like 1, l, 0, and O that are easily confused when reading a password aloud.
Can I generate multiple passwords at once?
Yes, you can generate a whole batch in a single click. This is handy when setting up many accounts at once or issuing temporary credentials to a team.
Should I store generated passwords in a manager?
Yes. Even a strong password is impractical to memorize, so save it in a password manager and let it autofill. Reusing the same generated password across sites defeats the purpose.
